Earna Referral Program Terms and Conditions
Effective date: September 2026
These terms and conditions apply when you participate in a referral or rewards program delivered using the Earna platform (the Program).
The Program is made available by the business or organisation promoting it through its website, application, referral page or communications (the Participating Business). The technology used to administer the Program is provided by Earna Limited (Earna).
By joining, accessing or participating in the Program, you agree to these terms.
1. How the Program works
The Program allows eligible individuals to introduce friends, family members, colleagues, customers or other contacts to the Participating Business or one of its approved referral partners.
Referrals may be submitted using:
the Earna application;
an Earna-powered referral form or widget;
a unique referral or sharing link;
a QR code;
a referral page hosted on the Participating Business’s website; or
another approved method displayed as part of the Program.
The available referral opportunities, qualifying actions and potential rewards will be shown on the relevant referral page, within the Earna platform or in the associated Program communications.
2. Eligibility
To participate, you must:
be at least 16 years old;
be legally entitled to participate in the Program;
provide complete, current and accurate information;
comply with these terms and all applicable laws;
obtain the referred person’s permission before sharing their personal information; and
meet any additional eligibility requirements displayed for the relevant referral opportunity.
If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Participation may be restricted for certain employees, contractors, regulated professionals, financial service providers or other categories of people where required by law or by the Participating Business’s compliance policies.
Earna or the Participating Business may request information reasonably required to confirm your identity or eligibility.
3. Referral requirements
To qualify, a referral must:
be submitted through an approved Earna referral method;
include accurate and genuine information;
relate to a person who has agreed to the referral and to being contacted;
be received before the referred person independently contacts or becomes an existing customer of the Participating Business;
result in the qualifying action described for that referral opportunity; and
meet any additional conditions displayed with the relevant Program or campaign.
You must not submit a referral without the person’s knowledge or consent.
Unless expressly permitted in the specific Program details, self-referrals do not qualify.
4. Referred-person consent
Before submitting a referral, you must:
explain that you intend to share the person’s information;
identify the relevant business, service or referral opportunity;
obtain permission for their details to be provided; and
confirm that they are willing to be contacted about the relevant product or service.
You must not purchase, scrape, collect or use personal information obtained from an unauthorised source.
Submitting a referral confirms that you have obtained the required permission.
5. Qualifying referrals
A referral does not qualify for a reward merely because it has been submitted.
A reward is only earned when the Participating Business confirms that all applicable requirements have been satisfied. Depending on the Program, this may include:
the referred person being a new customer;
a valid enquiry, appointment or application being completed;
finance or another service being approved and settled;
a product or service being purchased and fully paid for;
a vehicle being purchased and delivered;
any cancellation or cooling-off period expiring; or
another qualifying outcome described in the applicable Program details.
The Participating Business is responsible for confirming whether the qualifying outcome has occurred.
6. Duplicate referrals
Where more than one person refers the same individual, the reward will generally be allocated to the first valid referral recorded by the Earna platform.
A referral may not qualify if the referred person:
is already a customer;
is already known to or in active discussions with the Participating Business;
has previously been referred;
has already submitted an enquiry or application; or
is already recorded in the Participating Business’s systems.
Earna and the Participating Business may use timestamps, customer records and other reasonable information to determine which referral, if any, qualifies.
7. Rewards
The reward available for a qualifying referral will be displayed in the relevant Program, campaign, referral page or communication.
Rewards may be offered as:
a fixed cash-equivalent reward;
a percentage of an eligible commission or fee;
a digital Visa reward;
a gift, voucher, benefit or promotional item;
a donation or contribution to an eligible organisation; or
another reward described in the Program.
Reward amounts may vary between referral opportunities, products, services, locations, campaigns and participating businesses.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, rewards are personal to the referrer and cannot be sold, assigned or transferred.
8. Reward validation and payment
All rewards are subject to validation by Earna and the Participating Business.
A reward may be withheld, declined, delayed, adjusted or reversed if:
the qualifying transaction is cancelled, refunded, reversed or not completed;
the referral contains incorrect, incomplete or misleading information;
the referral is duplicated;
the referred person did not consent;
the referrer was not eligible to participate;
fraud, misuse or suspicious activity is identified;
any required identity, tax, KYC, AML or compliance checks are incomplete;
a related commission, fee or payment is reversed or clawed back; or
the referral does not meet the applicable Program requirements.
The Participating Business’s reasonable determination as to whether a referral has resulted in a qualifying transaction will be final, subject to any rights you may have under applicable law.
9. Payment method and timing
Approved rewards may be paid or provided through the payment method displayed in the Program, including through an Earna-supported digital Visa card or digital wallet.
Payment timing may vary depending on:
when the qualifying transaction is completed and validated;
the Participating Business’s payment cycle;
completion of required account or identity verification;
minimum payment thresholds; and
the terms of the applicable card, wallet or payment provider.
Any applicable payment, card-loading, replacement-card or account fees will be disclosed through the Program or by the relevant payment provider.
You are responsible for keeping your Earna and payment-account information current and for completing any required activation or verification steps.
10. Tax
You are responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations arising from rewards you receive.
Earna and the Participating Business do not provide tax advice. You should obtain independent advice if you are unsure about your obligations.
11. Acceptable use
You must not:
submit false, misleading, fraudulent or fabricated referrals;
submit referrals without the referred person’s consent;
impersonate another person;
make misleading statements about Earna, the Participating Business or an available product or service;
provide financial, legal or other regulated advice unless appropriately authorised;
use spam, unsolicited electronic messages, harassment or high-pressure sales practices;
interfere with or attempt to circumvent the security of the Earna platform;
manipulate referral links, tracking information, accounts or reward outcomes;
create multiple accounts to obtain additional rewards; or
use the Program in a manner that breaches any applicable law.
12. Marketing and electronic communications
You must comply with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007 and any other applicable marketing or electronic communications requirements.
A referral link or message must not be distributed as spam or sent to someone who has not agreed to receive it.
You must clearly identify yourself when making a referral and must not suggest that you are an employee, representative or authorised adviser of Earna or the Participating Business unless that is genuinely the case.
13. No financial or professional advice
Earna provides referral, engagement, tracking and reward-administration technology.
Earna does not provide financial, legal, tax, insurance, investment or other professional advice through the Program.
Participation in the Program does not make you an agent, employee, adviser, broker, representative, partner or joint-venture participant of Earna or the Participating Business.
Any product or service ultimately provided to a referred person is subject to the provider’s own terms, eligibility criteria, disclosures, approvals and privacy policy.
14. Privacy
Personal information collected through the Program may be collected, used, stored and disclosed by Earna and the Participating Business for purposes including:
creating and administering accounts;
receiving, recording and managing referrals;
contacting referred people;
matching referrals with participating businesses or service providers;
validating qualifying transactions;
calculating and providing rewards;
preventing fraud or misuse;
satisfying identity, legal and regulatory requirements;
operating, securing and improving the Earna platform; and
sending service communications and, where permitted, marketing communications.
Information may include:
names and contact information;
account and profile details;
occupation, business or eligibility information;
referred-person information;
referral and transaction information;
reward and payment details;
device, browser, usage and technical information; and
communications with Earna or the Participating Business.

identity and compliance-verification providers;
hosting, analytics, communications, security and support providers;

Earna does not sell personal information.
Information may be stored or processed in New Zealand, Australia or other countries in which Earna’s trusted service providers operate. Reasonable steps will be taken to ensure that overseas disclosures are handled consistently with applicable New Zealand privacy requirements.
The Participating Business may also collect and use information under its own privacy policy. That privacy policy should be available on the same website through which you access these terms.
You may request access to or correction of your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.
15. Security
Earna uses reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards to protect information held through the platform.
However, no online platform or transmission method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your account credentials and must notify Earna promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
16. Program changes
Earna or the Participating Business may:
change an available reward or qualifying requirement;
add, remove or suspend a referral opportunity;
introduce limits, expiry periods or minimum payment thresholds;
change an approved payment method; or
suspend or discontinue all or part of the Program.
Changes will not ordinarily affect a reward already earned and validated before the change takes effect, unless an adjustment is required because of fraud, error, cancellation, refund, reversal, chargeback or legal obligation.
Material changes may be communicated through the Earna platform, the Participating Business’s website or other reasonable channels.
17. Suspension and termination
Earna or the Participating Business may suspend or terminate your access to the Program if you:
breach these terms;
become ineligible;
misuse the Program;
engage in fraudulent or suspicious conduct;
fail a required compliance or identity check; or
create legal, regulatory, security or reputational risk.
Termination does not automatically entitle you to payment of pending or unvalidated rewards.
18. Platform availability
Earna will take reasonable steps to maintain the availability and security of the platform but does not guarantee that it will always operate without interruption, delay or error.
Earna may temporarily suspend access for maintenance, security, upgrades or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
19. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Earna and the Participating Business will not be liable for indirect, consequential or special loss, loss of profit, loss of opportunity or loss arising from unauthorised or unlawful use of the Program.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any applicable rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986.
20. Relationship with other terms
These terms apply specifically to participation in the Earna-powered referral Program.
The Participating Business’s:
website terms of use;
privacy policy;
product or service terms;
finance or insurance disclosures;
promotion-specific conditions; and
other legal or regulatory documents
may also apply.
If there is an inconsistency, the more specific terms applying to the particular product, service, promotion or transaction will take priority to the extent of that inconsistency.
21. Complaints and disputes
If you have a question or complaint about:
a product or service;
whether a transaction was completed;
customer eligibility; or
the Participating Business’s handling of personal information,
you should contact the Participating Business through the contact information published on its website.
